The Writing Project by FELTspace
Adelaide based Artist Run Initiative (ARI), FELTspace, has an exciting project on the horizon. Supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, this project is an open call for artists, writers, designers and curators to participate in an "ambitious arts writing based project fostering experimentation and inter-disciplinary collaboration in critical arts writing across Australia".
This sounds like an amazing opportunity for a team of people to collaborate on an arts-writing based project with a range of outcomes such as "artist book, zine, exhibition, online, limited edition print, paste-up, album, video, installation or performance." Sounds like my cup of tea... I hope one of you out there go for this!!"
Head to the website for more details. Be quick applications close midnight 30 June.

La Clinica
Nothing like new classic clean design. La Clinica is a furniture collection by Ciszak Dalmas. I can't wait to move into a bright, and fresh apartment. I don't think I would be buying new fancy furniture but thanks to the inspiring post at Miss Moss I could possibly just re-vamp my current furniture?

The Gothic in Adelaide
I never shared any images from, Imagining Interiors, an exhibition held last year at the JamFactory. But it was a really beautiful exhibition which has really stayed with me and I still glance at the catalogue now and then.
The exhibition, curated by Adelaide based arts writer, Wendy Walker, featured work by craft practitioners, designers and visual artists Roy Ananda, Kirsten Coelho, Nico Kelly, Khai Liew, Jessica Loughlin, Sean O’Connell, Amy Patterson, Mary-Jean Richardson and Julia Robinson. These artists (in the all inclusive term) were invited to respond to gothic literature in the historical and contemporary sense of the word.
The exhibition was produced by CraftSouth and presented by the JamFactory. Alongside this exhibition, within the same arts complex (The Lion Arts Centre), the Adelaide Cinematheque at the Mercury Cinema had a film list complimenting the exhibition. Unfortunately I can't find the Gothic Explorations page on their website but it's on facebook.
All images are from CraftSouth (follow the link to view more images and download a digital copy of the catalogue).

Design/Art/Writing
I would have liked to have seen this survey of art and design magazines at MoMA. The exhibition, Millenium Magazines, "explores the various ways in which contemporary artists and designers utilize the magazine format as an experimental space for the presentation of artworks and text". All publications in the survey were published from 2000 onwards. Visit the exhibition site to read more about the magazines and journals included in the survey.
There's nothing like good art, good design, and good writing joining forces. I realise I haven't been here (on the blog) very much and I have time management and motivation issues at the moment, but I do have some exciting ideas for an upcoming project (or two). Hope you have a nice weekend.

Playhouse
Playhouse I and Playhouse II by Dietrich Wegner. An interesting contradiction between aesthetically pleasing and delicate form and the horrifying and destructive content.

McQueen : Savage Beauty
I enjoy looking to other areas outside of fine arts for inspiration and ideas. One of my fashion favourites is Alexander McQueen. The McQueen retrospective exhibition, Savage Beauty, held at the Met Museum last year shows the Romantic history elements in his oeuvre. The macabre, grotesque elements balances the beautiful, seductive side of these meticulously tailored gowns. I wish I could have seen the exhibition. The website is a really good online documentation of the exhibition with texts and images separated into different 'Romantic' sensibilities McQueen depicted in his creations.
